New Lecturer Announcement

A Stewart news Profile

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Rev Dr Andrew Stewart to the role of Lecturer in Systematic Theology at the Reformed Theological College (RTC).

Andrew is no stranger to RTC, having served as an Adjunct Lecturer since 2019 and teaching multiple units as a guest lecturer before then. He is married to Katie (originally from Xiamen, China), and they have two adult children.

At RTC, we are committed to having faculty members with rich ministry experience, and Andrew is certainly no exception. He has served as the pastor of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Geelong since 1998 and previously ministered to congregations in Northern Ireland, where he is originally from, and Cyprus.

Andrew holds a law degree from The Queen’s University of Belfast and obtained qualifications in Theology from the Reformed Theological College, Belfast, and the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh. He completed his doctoral work at the Melbourne School of Theology (Australian College of Theology). The title of his doctoral thesis was ‘The Three Accounts of Paul’s Conversion in Acts 9, 22 and 26: A Study of Consistency and Creativity in Narrative Retelling.’

He has been active as an author throughout his ministry career, with many articles and book chapters to his credit. In addition he has written three full-length commentaries (on Deuteronomy, First Chronicles, and Second Chronicles), published by Evangelical Press.

Andrew brings a wealth of experience and breadth of knowledge to his new role. As a teacher, RTC students find him engaging, exceptionally well-read, and deeply pastoral. We look forward to him, as RTC’s lecturer in Systematic Theology, having even greater impact in shaping the mind, heart and life of the next generation of gospel workers.

Andrew states: “I have been both humbled and honoured to be offered the position of Systematic Theology Lecturer at RTC. Theology is a discipline which shapes churches, their members and those who serve them, and I deeply appreciate the trust which the Board has placed in me by appointing me to this role. I earnestly desire the prayers of the College community as I seek to grow into this ministry.” Mr Ken Dean, Chairman of the RTC Board adds:  It is a joy to welcome Andrew to this full-time role in the RTC Faculty.  We have been blessed for many years by Andrew’s pulpit ministry and his part time lecturing and thank God for now bringing him to this key position of such influence in the work of the college.
