To host and make the most of a local church watch party:
- Register as for a “Local Church Watch Party” (not as individuals). The price is $300
- This is a price per local church, if there are multiple churches joining, each church is required to pay the watch party feel. There is no limit to how many people can attend per church.
- Arrange for someone to lead your local retreat day, ensuring everything is ready to go at the start, keeping the schedule on track, and initiating times of prayer and conversation during the day.
- Meet somewhere relaxed, comfortable, and away from other distractions. Retreats are often best in a space that is not your usual meeting place.
- Arrange for good catering so you can enjoy meals, morning and afternoon tea together. Your time-zone will determine what meals/snacks you need to provide.
- Make sure you have a good sized TV or a screen and projector, and an excellent wifi connection. Good audio is very important for this.
- We do plan to have the stream start so you can test audio and visual fifteen minutes prior to the start time in your time zone.
- Consider allowing additional time, before or after the hours of the RTC Elder’s Retreat, so as to have more opportunity to talk and pray together. Discussion questions will be provided for the day.
- Consider inviting both past and potential elders as well as the current elders, so as to maximise this as an eldership training day.
- Deacons and other church members, male and female, are also most welcome to attend if you think it would be helpful for them. It is up to you who you invite for the day.
- Encourage those who attend to send in questions for the panel discussion using Slido. Details will be given on the day, but you could download the slido app in advance.
- Consider buying in advance copies of Murray Capill’s new book, The Elder-Led Church, to give to each person who attends. This book, which will be officially launched on the day, will provide great follow-up material for further training and reflection as an eldership team. It is available for order from Reformers Bookshop, Koorong, Amazon and while stock is available books can be purchased from the RTC for $25 plus postage. Please contact the office if you are interested.
