We are delighted to announce the appointment, after an extensive search process, of Rev. Dr. Stephen Lewis as the new Lecturer in Old Testament and Hebrew at the Reformed Theological College. Dr. Lewis comes to us from Knowlton Presbyterian Church in New Jersey where he is currently the pastor. Stephen has extensive ministry experience and has also taught in the online program at Westminster Theological Seminary. Academically he is very well qualified for the role to which he was appointed. He holds three degrees, including a PhD in Hermeneutics and Biblical Interpretation (Old Testament), awarded by Westminster Theological Seminary Philadelphia in 2018.
Stephen is married to Amy and they have seven children, ranging in age from 33 to 8. Three of the children will, Lord willing, make the move to Australia with them. It is our wish and prayer that the Lewis family will be settled and ready for Stephen to begin his duties at the beginning of the 1st semester of 2021.
We firmly believe that Stephen will bring exactly the right mix of experience and gifts to his new role. As one of his referees said: “His unique combination of pastoral experience, missionary zeal, and academic excellence seems to me to be especially well-suited to your own focus as an institution.”
Stephen is very excited about this new chapter in his ministry journey. When asked what he most looked forward to he said: “Being part of the RTC team. Joining a team that is training pastors, missionaries, and leaders to impact the spiritual deserts of Australia and New Zealand with the gospel, helping students see Christ on the pages of the Old Testament – this is what I believe God has prepared me to do.”
Please pray for the Lewis family as they prepare for the move to Australia, especially during this time of significant global uncertainty. Please also pray that the process to apply for a visa to enable Stephen to work in Australia will run smoothly.
