Supporting Churches

From its inception in 1955 the Reformed Theological College has had a very close relationship with its supporting churches.  RTC is not a denominational college, but we believe that churches should identify from among their members people to be trained and tested as pastors and other gospel workers, and that their training should be owned, sponsored and overseen by their churches, through denominational bodies where appropriate.

Four denominations of Reformed churches have an especially close relationship with RTC as Supporting Denominations.  They are the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia, the Reformed Churches of New Zealand, the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Australia and the Presbyterian Church of Eastern Australia.  Over the years the College has trained many pastors and workers for these churches.  The College receives significant financial support from them and in turn the churches have considerable input into the curriculum and teaching standards at the College.

Congregational Membership is also open to churches beyond the Supporting Denominations, and the College enjoys a close working relationship with them in training their members for gospel work.
